Action in the willow nest box. For some time now, a male starling has shown a keen interest in one of my cave nest boxes, which were actually intended for tits. So that also a fat starling comes into the box, I had already exchanged some time ago the front with the 35mm hole against a new front with 45mm hole. But 45mm still seems to be just about the lower limit. Because the pictures of the camera showed clearly that the thickness still had to squeeze through the hole. Not that he sits in the box at some point and shouts “I’m a star, get me out of here!” (yes, flat joke, I know ;-)) . Therefore, once again enlarged the hole to now 48mm. Now it seems to fit. Since then the starlings visits became more and more frequent. And yesterday now the highlight of the visits so far. In the late morning the starling male arrived with his Holden in tow and the show could begin. In the video you can observe impressively, with which movements and sounds the male courts the female.
