Shortly before Easter, I noticed a blackbird that kept flying into or out of our open garden shed.
So I took a closer look and discovered the reason for the busy flight traffic. The blackbird was building a nest in the shed.
He had chosen an old roller shutter axle with a belt plate that I had left in the shed as a base, because you never know what you might need an axle like that for 😁
As the axle is quite close to a shelf, I quickly made a network camera and placed it on the top shelf with a view of the nest.
Hopefully we can now watch all the action until the little blackbirds leave.
Above all, keep your fingers crossed that no nest robbers discover the blackbird in the shed. I’m particularly worried about the magpies. I haven’t seen the squirrels in the shed yet, unless they are hiding one of their walnuts there.
You can of course find the live stream of the nest here under livestreams. I have now combined the nest boxes and the blackbird nest on one page.
To give you a little impression of where the blackbird has built its nest, here are a few photos of it:
- Two nesting boxes with 2 cameras each
- 2 hedgehog houses with feeding and sleeping room and 2 cameras each
- Feeding station with 3 cameras, one controllable with 10x zoom
- Squirrel house with camera
